How Jesus Dealt With Anger

Let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and your hearts give up. Jesus entered the synagogue again, and a man was there with a withered hand. ² They were watching Jesus closely to see if he would heal the man on the Sabbath day, so that they could accuse him. ³ He said to the man with the withered hand, “Step forward!” ⁴ Then he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath day to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. ⁵ Then he looked around at them with anger, deeply grieved at the hardness of their hearts. He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” The man stretched it out, and his hand was restored. ⁶ The Pharisees left and immediately began to conspire against Jesus with the Herodians, plotting how they might kill him. I CAN BE FAITHFUL AS I DEAL WITH ANGER IF, LIKE CHRIST, I…

1. Grieve Their ________________, Not My ________.

Then he looked around at them with anger, deeply grieved at the hardness of their hearts… Mark 3:5a (NIV)

2. Speak Up In __________, Not ______________.

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise person holds it in check. Proverbs 29:11 (CSB)

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 (NIV)

My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, ²⁰ because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. James 1:19-20 (NIV)
