I WILL FIGHT FOR THE TRUTH WHEN…

My dear friends, I was doing my best to write to you about the salvation we share in common, when I felt the need of writing at once to encourage you to fight on for the faith which once and for all God has given to his people. ⁴ For some godless people have slipped in unnoticed among us, persons who distort the message about the grace of our God in order to excuse their immoral ways, and who reject Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord. Long ago the Scriptures predicted the condemnation they have received. Jude 1:3-4 (GNT)

When these people eat with you in your fellowship meals commemorating the Lord’s love, they are like dangerous reefs that can shipwreck you. Jude 1:12 (NLT)

HOW TO RECOGNIZE THOSE WHO DISTORT THE TRUTH:

They ______________ Grace Into A ______________ To Sin.

…persons who distort the message about the grace of our God in order to excuse their immoral ways…v4

…and who reject Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord… v4

They ________ God’s ________________ With Their Actions.

…I want to remind you of how the Lord[a] once rescued the people of Israel from Egypt, but afterward destroyed those who did not believe. v5

They _________________ God’s Intended ______________ For Them.

Remember the angels who did not stay within the limits of their proper authority, but abandoned their own dwelling place… v6

They ____________ __________________ Over ________________.

Remember Sodom and Gomorrah, and the nearby towns, whose people acted as those angels did and indulged in sexual immorality and perversion… v7

They _____________ Unmanaged _______ & A Lack Of ____________.

How terrible for them! They have followed the way that Cain took…v11

They Are ____________ By __________ & ______________________.

For the sake of money they have given themselves over to the error that Balaam committed…v11

They ______ Godly ________ & ___________ Others To Do The Same.

…They have rebelled as Korah rebelled, and like him they are destroyed. v11

They ________ Others Down & __________ Themselves Up.

These people are always grumbling and blaming others; they follow their own evil desires; they brag about themselves and flatter others in order to get their own way. v16

They ____________ The Church & ________ On Their Feelings.

These are the people who cause divisions, who are controlled by their natural desires, who do not have the Spirit. v19

KEYS TO WINNING THE FIGHT FOR TRUTH:

But remember, my friends, what you were told in the past by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ They said to you, “When the last days come, people will appear who will make fun of you, people who follow their own godless desires.” Jude 1:17-18 (GNT)

Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. Acts 20:30 (NIV)

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them.., Matthew 7:15–16 (NIV)

I Will ____________ False Doctrine With __________________.

He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it. ¹⁰ For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk and deception, especially those of the circumcision group. ¹¹ They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households by teaching things they ought not to teach… ¹⁶ They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. ⁴ They will reject the truth and chase after myths. ⁵ But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you. ⁶ As for me, my life has already been poured out as an offering to God. The time of my death is near. ⁷ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. 2 Timothy 4:3-7 (NLT)
