Purpose #5 – I Am Saved To A Soul Saving Mission

To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood…to him be glory and power for ever and ever! Amen. Revelation 1:5b, 6b (NIV)

He made us to be a kingdom of priests who serve God his Father. Revelation 1:6a (NCV)

Within minutes they were bickering over who of them would end up the greatest. Luke 22:24 (MSG)

…whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, ⁴⁴ and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. ⁴⁵ For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:43b-45 (CSB)

BECOMING A great servant REQUIREs THAT…

1. like Christ, I Become more LOVING.

For, dear brothers, you have been given freedom: not freedom to do wrong, but freedom to love and serve each other. Galatians 5:13 (TLB)

He had always loved those who were his own in the world, and he loved them all the way to the end. John 13:1b (ICB)

Your life must be controlled by love, just as Christ loved us and gave his life for us… Ephesians 5:2 (GNT)

Beloved children, our love can’t be an abstract theory we only talk about, but a way of life demonstrated through our loving deeds. 1 John 3:18 (TPT)

2. like Christ, I Become more AWARE & AVAILABLE.

It was almost time for the Jewish Passover Feast. Jesus knew that it was time for him to leave this world and go back to the Father… Jesus and his followers were at the evening meal… John 13:1-2a (ICB)

Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” ⁴⁹ Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” ⁵⁰ Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. ⁵¹ “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” ⁵² “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road. Mark 10:48-52 (NIV)

• Becoming aware happens when I open my EYES.

Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. John 4:35 (NIV)

• Becoming aware happens when I open my EARS.

When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” ⁴⁸ “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him…⁴⁹ When Jesus heard him, He stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” Mark 10:47–49a (NLT)

• Becoming aware happens when I open my HEART.

When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd.  Matthew 9:36 (MSG)

But if anyone has this world’s goods and sees his brother and fellow believer in need, yet closes his heart of compassion against him, how can the love of God live and remain in him? 1 John 3:17 (AMPC)

3. like Christ, I Become more SECURE.

Jesus knew that the Father had given him power over everything. He also knew that he had come from God and was going back to God. John 13:3 (ICB)

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.  Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

4. like Christ, I Become MORE HUMBLE.

So during the meal Jesus stood up and took off his outer clothing. Taking a towel, he wrapped it around his waist. ⁵ Then he poured water into a bowl and began to wash the followers’ feet. He dried them with the towel that was wrapped around him. John 13:4b-5 (ICB)

Your attitude must be like my own, for I, the Messiah, did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give my life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:28 (TLB)

Do nothing from factional motives [through contentiousness, strife, selfishness, or for unworthy ends] or prompted by conceit and empty arrogance. Instead, in the true spirit of humility (lowliness of mind) let each regard the others as better than and superior to himself [thinking more highly of one another than you do of yourselves]…⁵ Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:] Philippians 2:3, 5 (AMPC)

Then He came to Simon Peter, and Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” ⁷ Jesus answered him, “You do not understand what I am doing now. But later you will understand.” ⁸ Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” John 13:6-8 (MEV)

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table?. Luke 22:27a (NIV)

5. I Become more CONNECTED.

…To My PURPOSE.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people… For Christ is the real Master you serve. Colossians 3:23, 24b (GNT)

…To My PEOPLE. (LOST & SAVED)

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others. 1 Peter 4:10a (NIV)

…But I am among you as one who serves.  Luke 22:27b (NIV)

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes.  John 1:14 (MSG)
