And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God ask of you but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to observe the Lord’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good? To you, who were spiritually dead all the time that you drifted along on the stream of this world’s ideas of living, and obeyed its unseen ruler (who is still operating in those who do not respond to the truth of God), to you Christ has given life! Ephesians 2:2 (Phillips)
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ… 20 the powerful spirits that rule this world no longer have any authority over you. You may think that everything you do is right, but remember that the Lord judges your motives. Proverbs 21:2 (GNT)
“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 “So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthes 6:1-4 (NIV)
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”  1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV)
He was like God in every way, but he did not think that his being equal with God was something to use for his own benefit.7 Instead, he gave up everything, even his place with God. He accepted the role of a servant, appearing in human form…Philippians 2:6-7 (ERV)
Love…is not self-seeking…  1 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV)
A servant heart does BECAUSE it loves, not WHAT it loves!
