CrossWay Church is a local congregation of Christians committed to following Jesus. Our goal is to be a church where the problems of life meet the power of God as we answer Jesus' call to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:18-20).
We are not a denomination. Jesus prayed for the unity of His followers (John 17:20–23), and we seek to avoid the divisions and party spirit that have too often characterized Christianity throughout history (1 Corinthians 1:10–13). Rather than wearing a denominational label, our desire is simply to be Christians and to be the church we read about in the Bible.
Because of that commitment, we strive to let Scripture—not tradition or human creeds—shape our faith and practice. We encourage every person to study God's Word for themselves and to test everything by the Scriptures (Acts 17:11).
A church of Christ—in the Biblical Sense
The New Testament describes God's people with many biblical names, including the church of God (1 Corinthians 1:2), the church of the Living God (1 Timothy 3:15), the church of the firstborn (Hebrews 12:23), the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22–23), the family of God (Ephesians 2:19), and the churches of Christ (Romans 16:16). We are grateful to be part of Christ's church in that biblical sense.
When we use the phrase "church of Christ," we are not referring to a denomination, but simply acknowledging that the church belongs to Christ. He purchased it with His own blood (Acts 20:28). He is the church's only Head (Colossians 1:18). The church is Jesus' bride (2 Corinthians 11:2), and we desire to honor Him above every human authority (Matthew 28:18). As disciples of Jesus under the new covenant, we are therefore called the church of Christ.
